Womens U16 and U17 Team

The High School U16 and U17 Team is for athletes that do not turn 17 years old during the spring of their school year. It is also open to competitive 8th graders that are looking for more of a challenge and racing opportunity and to prepare them for high school racing. We have both Fall training and racing, plus Spring training and racing. Some advanced 8th graders can move up to the High School U17 team and race in that squad for 3 years. This team travels to compete both in regional, state, and national level regattas with our State Championship Regatta held in Sacramento in May. Teams include both rowers and coxswains. National Championships has also started offering racing in this age group.

Womens Varsity Team

New athletes that are Juniors and Seniors get ramped up quickly, and move right up to the Varsity Squad so they are with other athletes their same age (No experience necessary). Teams include both rowers and coxswains. The Varsity athletes race in many different boats so there are racing opportunities for everyone. We match athletes up with others of similar fitness and skill.

“The coaches here are great! My two girls were some of the first rowers the club had. They learned what tenacity will get them, if they stick with a dream. The club grew from a few kids and one boat, to now a prosperous club cranking out national championship level athletes. The coaches are great examples of leaders that set high standards, provide leadership and are great role models. I highly recommend the Casitas Rowing as a great formative path for kids.”
— Parents of two Casitas Rowing high school sisters
Casitas Rowing was an eye opening club in my life, it served as a get away from reality, a second place to call home & most importantly my family. Rowing may seem like it would take away from school time, but it actually teaches you time management, focus and how to succeed, after I joined rowing my grades in school immediately went up because I learned how to prioritize properly. Rowing at casitas made me a better person all around, got me into an amazing college, and will always be a place I know I can fall back on to call my home.

Female Coxswains

Coxswains are the boat leaders, they have a rudder for steering and call out the practice routine and race strategy at regattas. A typical boat will have eight rowers and one coxswain. We look for motivated people who are outgoing and naturally talkative. Generally the coxswains are smaller and weigh less than the rowers, with coxswains for the girls teams typically / comfortably being under 115 pounds throughout high school, but this isnt a requirement.

Casitas Rowing FINANCIAL AID

We provide a robust and inclusive community supported financial aid program that makes it so almost everyone who wants to row, can. Financial aid is awarded based on need for the region we live in, and is decided on by a committee of thoughtful and dedicated club committee members. Our goal is to get the kids that are committed to the team out on the water rowing.

Dont know how to swim yet?
No prob, we are partnered with local community swim instructors who are willing to offer free lessons to get kids ramped up.

Dont have a ride to the lake?
We have an awesome parent carpool system from most areas. Also, get a buddy or two to join with you and carpool becomes a piece of cake :-).

Team Dues
There is a 1-week no commitment / free trial period when a high school or middle school athlete starts rowing, at the beginning of Fall and Spring seasons. After that one week trial period is closed, we ask new kids who are interested in trying rowing to take a private lesson or two to get a feel for the sport, and can ride on the coach boat to watch a few team practices, but, would need to sign up for the season prior to joining in with the rest of the team practices.

Then, if the athlete joins the team, junior dues for the school year are broken out into 2 seasons. Fall payment of $1,700 is to be paid in September, OR, if needed parents can request that it be broken out into 4 payments of $425. Then, Spring dues of $2,125 are paid in January for rowing January through Championships in May. This can be 5 payments of $425 for Spring if needed. (When athletes start, they are committing to that entire Fall or Spring season).

There is a “multi family member” discount for families with either siblings rowing, or, if both a parent is on the adult team and a child on the junior team. Junior athletes are after school, and adult rowing is in the mornings.

We want to make sure that any kid who wants to row, can, and that financial issues are not a factor in deterring athletes or their families. Please talk to us about options if you would like more information, our goal is to get these kids out there on the team.

Let’s get started today!

Casitas Rowing is an amazing program that impacted my life in more ways than I can even describe. I found some of my best friends through rowing and learned so many important life lessons. Casitas helped me get into college and significantly IMPROVED my TIME MANAGEMENT, COMMUNICATION and LEADERSHIP SKILLS. I don’t think I would be where I am today without the amazing support system I found through Casitas. I recommend rowing, for any amount of time, to anyone.
— 4-year athlete with Casitas Rowing

Casitas Rowing, to me, is an all-inclusive club that combines a fun and competitive athletic environment for the ultimate team sport. I never expected myself to love a sport, a team, so much, or for it to take me this far: being awarded a full scholarship to compete on a Division 1 team and receive an excellent higher education. Much of the important personal growth I experienced in high school I experienced because of rowing, and as a full time athlete with a strong group of friends/teammates, I never felt bored or alone.
I am currently attending my dream college and already feel as if I have a strong community and tons of academic support because of rowing. I am taking the passion for leadership and community I was able to find through rowing as far as I can, hopefully resulting in running a company, but for now I’m happy to know I’m not draining my parents’ wallets on tuition. :p
Rowing changed my life dramatically in ways I never expected. I encourage any and all to see where rowing might take you.
